El Dieciocho de Septiembre

Known as El Dieciocho to Chileans, September 18th commemorates the anniversary of Chile's first steps towards independence from Spanish rule. Similar to the 4th of July for Americans, Chileans celebrate their Independence Day with barbecues and fireworks, but also enjoy Chilean rodeo, fairs, traditional foods, music, and dancing the cueca, Chile's national dance.
